Upper Saddle River, N.J. — Onkyo today released Dolby Atmos firmware updates for its TX-NR636, TX-NR737 and TX-NR838 networked A/V receivers, which are already available at suggested retails of $699, $899 and $1,199, respectively.
The free update is available via a network connection or USB download.
All Onkyo 2014 A/V receivers and preamp/processors, starting with the 636, will feature dual 32-bit processing engines to decode, scale and calibrate Dolby Atmos, the company said.
The high-end $1,699 TX-NR1030 and $2,399 TX-NR3030 network A/V receivers, along with the flagship $2,499 PR-SC5530 network A/V controller, will ship in mid-October with Dolby Atmos built-in, the company noted. They were originally to ship in August. In addition, the $899 HT-S7700 network home-theater system, an A/V receiver and speaker package, will also ship with Dolby Atmos built-in at the end of the month.
The A/V receivers and preamp/processors feature built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, support for high-res audio playback, and HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 copy protection.
