is now No. 2 in U.S. market share dollars of full-frame interchangeable lens cameras, trailing Canon. Sony displaced Nikon which sits at No. 3.
According to The NPD Group’s Retail Tracking Service, Sony has recorded record sales so far in 2017, with 23 percent growth from the same year-ago period.
In addition, Sony’s rapid growth has helped to drive growth of the overall full-frame interchangeable lens camera market up 5 percent compared with last year. Without Sony’s contributions, the full-frame market would be facing a slight 2 percent decline.

Despite the growth, sales of digital cameras across all types has been
primarily due to increasingly sophisticated smartphone cameras.
