Nickerson To Leave Toshiba

Steve Nickerson, VP of marketing for Toshiba America Consumer Products, is leaving his position effective at the end of December after 13 years with the company.

Often the official face of Toshiba’s consumer electronics division, for the last few years Nickerson has been a strong proponent of his company’s efforts in developing and marketing DVD video. A company statement says only that he “has decided to leave the company for a career outside the consumer electronics industry,” but did not state where that would be. A person familiar with the situation said he would still be attending next month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, perhaps in some capacity with a new company.

In a statement released today, Toshihide Yasui, TACP president, praised Nickerson for his “years of exemplary service” to the company. “I make this announcement today with sincere wishes for Steve’s continued success professionally and personally,” Yasui said. “Toshiba has profited greatly from his vision and his determination to help the company achieve its goals.”

He added that TACP would announce Nickerson’s replacement shortly.
