Los Angeles — Tech e-tailer Newegg.com reported “a significant uptick” in sales of 3D printers over the past month.
While the nascent category didn’t necessarily account for a large percentage of overall sales, it said the spike in orders may be indicative of its popularity in the very near future.
The company attributed the November increase to a greater selection of affordable models.
Also enjoying solid seasonal sales at Newegg are gaming laptops, which are often purchased by businesspeople seeking higher-performance notebooks; 4K monitors and TVs, whose growth has driven a “dramatic” drop in HD display pricing; and Google’s Chromecast streaming stick, the company said.
