A/V Receiver Delivers 1,080p

North Reading, Mass. — A custom-install-friendly A/V receiver from Rotel features HDMI inputs and outputs with the bandwidth to handle 1,080p signals. The $1,499-suggested RSX-1057 features two HDMI inputs and one HDMI output. Custom features include RS-232 interface, multiroom multisource output with composite video, three assignable 12-volt trigger outputs, discrete on/off IR commands, rear-panel IR inputs and detachable AC power cord. It's equipped with 5x75-watt amplifier but accepts and add-on two-channel amp to deliver 7.1-channel surround. Other features include video transcoding and three component-video inputs.

Jamo's Expanding Selection

Buffalo Grove, Ill. — Jamo expanded its selection of speakers with two new in-ceiling models and four outdoor models.

The in-ceiling models, which can be used for home theater applications, include the 8.521K4 at $899 each. The three-way model features concave baffle with pivoting dome tweeter and pivoting midrange driver to direct sound toward the seating position. It can be paired with the SU6.521K4 in-ceiling dipole surround at $499 each. It features 6/5-inch woofer and separate tweeter/midrange combos firing at offset angles.

Four new outdoor speakers are single-speaker stereo models with dual-voice-coil woofer and two tweeters. The in-ceiling 6.52DVCA2 with 6-inch woofer and 8.52DVCA2 with 8-inch woofer are priced at $139 and $159 each, respectively. Paradigm Heads Outdoors

Ontario, Canada — Paradigm's new Stylus Series v.3 outdoor speakers consist of six enclosed two-way models, two of which are single-speaker stereo models priced at $259 and $309 each. The stereo pairs are priced from $199/pair to $519/pair. Single-speaker stereo models are appropriate for small areas, and multiple models can “eliminate the sound imbalances” that occur when people are closer to one stereo speaker than another, the company said. All models in the series feature 1-inch titanium dome tweeters.

In its rock-speaker Rock Monitor series, Paradigm offers the 60-SM single-speaker stereo model.
