SANTA CLARA, CALIF. —
The latest version of
Magellan’s navigation app for the iPhone adds
lifetime live traffic updates, location-based promotional
offers and coupons, points of interest
sharing via email and social media.
Version 1.3 of Magellan’s RoadMate App
is compatible with iOS4 to take advantage of
iPhone 4’s new multitasking ability and Retina
display. With multitasking, users can make or
take phone calls while real-time navigation and
routing continue in the background, the company
said.
The updated version is available on the iTunes
Store. The updates are free to existing app owners.
For first-time buyers, the app costs $59.99
for the North America version, $49.99 for the
U.S.-only version, and $34.99 for the Canadaonly
version.
“While the Magellan RoadMate App has been
well-received to date, consumers have been asking
for additional features that take advantage of
iPhone’s capabilities,” said Stig Pedersen, Magellan’s
product management senior director.
