Mad Catz, the gaming accessory company mounting a bankruptcy comeback, announced it’s secured an exclusive distribution agreement with Verbatim.
Under the terms of the deal, Verbatim will distribute the full line of Mad Catz products across North and South America. Products are expected to begin shipping this fall.
Mad Catz filed for bankruptcy in the spring of 2017, and then announced in January of this year that it was under new ownership. It is now a privately owned company, known as Mad Catz Global, comprised of several former design and factory employees, according to a company spokesman.
It sold its Tritton gaming audio brand to Silkysea International Limited in July.
Said Ron Hanafin, Verbatim managing director of product management and new business development, in a statement: “Mad Catz is a much-loved name in gaming and we’re delighted to be part of the comeback story for the brand. For almost 50 years, we’ve been bringing market-leading products to consumers and we’re confident that our channel partners and gamers alike will be excited to see the new line of Rat mice, Strike keyboards and Freq gaming headsets hit the market.”
Added Selena Chang, director of sales and operations for Mad Catz Global Limited: “We’re about to enter a new era for Mad Catz and couldn’t be happier to partner with a brand who shares our passion for product and excellent customer service. We are confident that Verbatim will do justice to the Mad Catz brand and can’t wait for gamers to see the new range appearing very soon across North and South America.”
