Lowe’s Beefs Up Iris With Halo Addition

Lowe’s has expanded its Iris smart-home system to include integration with Halo smoke alarms.

Iris users can now add the Halo and Halo+ smoke alarms to their ecosystems. The Halo ($99 suggested retail) combines smoke detection with a carbon monoxide alarm in a single unit. In addition to sound alerts, it projects an LED halo of light on the ceiling as an additional warning.

The Halo+ ($129), meanwhile, adds in a user-customizable NOAA weather radio that provides tornado, flood and hurricane alerts from the National Weather Service directly to homes and smartphones.

Both devices can be added to the Iris system by pairing in the smartphone app.

The detectors are currently available on Lowes.com and will be available in its stores in the coming weeks.
