LG OLED TVs Anchor Democratic & Republican National Conventions

LG Electronics USA had its OLED TVs front and center at both parties’ national conventions last month.

LG’s OLED TVs were named the “official TV” of the recently concluded 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia and the 2016  Republican National Convention in Cleveland, and the company was designated the “official 4K Ultra HD Provider” at both events.

All told, more than 600 LG 4K UHD displays were seen throughout the conventions by convention attendees, with the company’s OLED TVs featured in high-profile VIP areas at both conventions. LG supplied over 300 displays that were installed at the Wells Fargo Center arena in Philadelphia and more than 300 more at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

LG 4K UHD TVs also were selected for the media centers at both conventions for the thousands of journalists providing worldwide news coverage.

Complementing LG’s onsite presence for attendees of the conventions was the company’s beachhead in the hospitality market. The company said an estimated 21,000-plus hotel rooms in Philadelphia feature LG TVs, while LG hotel TVs are used in an estimated 13,200-plus hotel rooms in the Cleveland metropolitan area.

John I. Taylor, LG’s government affairs VP, said, “LG is proud to be selected again as the brand of choice for the Democratic and Republican conventions. Our presence in Philadelphia and Cleveland demonstrates LG’s position as a technology and policy leader in the United States.”

Tom Campbell, senior technology advisor for both conventions, commented: “Consumer technology played a major role for both of this year’s conventions like never before. LG OLEDs were there for the benefit of attendees and the press to display images and information. It was an unprecedented integration of technology.”
