LG Doubles Down On Door-In-Door

Las Vegas – LG Electronics USA will introduce a new variation on its pioneering door-in-door refrigerator design next week at 2015 International CES.

The manufacturer’s innovative double door-in-door four-door French door refrigerator (model LPXS34886C) is comprised of two independent door-in-door compartments to provide better content organization and easy access while maximizing conservation of cold air.

The right door-in-door panel is accessible from the outside with the push of a button, and is also accessible from the inside, making it easy to load with often-used items like snacks, drinks and lunches. The left door-in-door provides additional easily accessible storage space that can be opened via a trigger on the bottom of the door.

The fridge itself features contour-processed tempered glass that’s applied over a black-patterned curved glass finish, leaving the outside fingerprint- and smudge-resistant. It also boasts the slimmest and most effective insulation the company has ever produced, to provide nearly 34 cubic feet of capacity, LG said.

The unit also employs a low-friction linear compressor and long-lasting LED lighting to reduce energy consumption, plus Wi-Fi capability that allows users to control temperature, ice production and cooling modes remotely by instant messaging LG’s HomeChat virtual assistant.

Pricing and ship dates are expected to be announced next week.
