Klipsch Extends Heritage Speaker Line With 1st Headphones

Voxx International’s Klipsch brand has dedicated its two-years-in-the-making new flagship Heritage HP-3 headphones to the memory of founder Paul W. Klipsch, who pioneered stereo reproduction in headphones as far back as in 1919.

The company said the new luxury product was inspired by its founder. “After two years behind the curtain, we are finally ready to reveal a headphone worthy of the Heritage name. Acoustically, mechanically, and physically this is the most impressive headphone Klipsch has ever created,” said Vlad Grodzinskiy, senior manager of product development for Klipsch Group.

The Klipsch HP-3 headphones are hand-assembled using contrasting materials such as die-cast steel, hand-sanded and polished wood, premium-grade leathers, and machined aluminum. Solid-wood, triple-vented ear cups add natural warmth and character, the company said. They feature angled sheepskin ear pads that will distress naturally with age, and a hand-stitched cowhide headband that becomes more pliable over time.

The acoustics of the Heritage HP-3 headphones are based on Klipsch’s sound principles of high efficiency, low distortion and full-range sound, the company said. The cans have a semi-open design and a recessed pair of free-edge 52mm biodynamic drivers that decrease distortion, further expand the soundstage, and mimic the imaging characteristics of Klipsch’s Heritage speakers, as opposed to conventional headphones, Klipsch said.

The HP-3 will retail for $1,199, packaged with a custom solid-steel rod headphone stand, short (1.37m) and long (2.5m) detachable braided nylon cables, and a custom-fit ¼-inch adapter. The headphonse are available now in three solid-wood finishes: walnut, ebony, and oak.
