Whirlpool’s premium KitchenAid brand is rolling out a new counter-depth French door fridge that boasts the first self-close freezer drawer in its class.
Available in three models, the 72-inch, 24-cubic-foot bottom-mount also features a slide-away split shelf that can retract three-quarters of the way to accommodate items up to nearly 17 inches tall.
The units are available in stainless (with and without the fingerprint-resistant PrintShield coating) and black stainless finishes, while the cavity contains a stain-resistant platinum design with wood accents.
Select models also have an under-shelf prep zone with removable oven-safe pan that can be used for setting dough or marinating meats.
Other premium features include full-extension, self-closing FreshSeal crisper drawers that are brightly lit and maintain optimal humidity levels, and a temperature-controlled pantry with presets for meat and fish, cold drinks, deli items and wine.
The series is expected to hit sales floors and e-commerce sites on Oct. 1, and will carry a suggested retail range of $3,999 to $4,399.
