JVC Brings Waterproofing To Affordable Levels

Wayne, N.J. — JVC has added waterproof and washable models to its economical headphones.

Four models were introduced: two in the Gumy Sport line and two in the Extreme Fitness line.

The Gumy Sport models (HA-EN10, $14.95, and HA-ENR15, $19.95) feature silicone ear tips and are IPX2 sweat-proof, which means they can be also used in light rain, JVC said.

The HA-ENR15 add a universal in-line mic and remote.

Four color combos are offered: blue/black, black/red, pink/violet and white/orange.

The JVC HA-ETX30 and HA-ETR40 Extreme Fitness headphones have the company’s rotating ear hooks, known as Pivot Motion Fit, which fit just above the ear canal. These two models are IPX5/IPX7 rated and can be rinsed beneath the tap.

Both models come with three sizes of earpieces, and the HA-ETR40 add earpieces that enable ambient noise to leak through for safety. It also adds an in-line mic and remote.

The HA-ETX30 ($29.95) come in blue/yellow, black/green, pink/blue and white/orange, while the HA-ETR40 ($39.95) come in gun metallic/black and red/black.

They will be available at the end of the month.

JVC was among the top five sellers of headphones last year in U.S. dollar sales, according to The NPD Group.
