Stamford, Conn. – JBL unveiled some of the industry’s first docking speaker systems with Apple’s new eight-pin Lightning connector for the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod Touch, seventh-generation iPod Nano, iPad Mini and fourth-generation iPad.
The docks will be available for pre-order on JBL.com starting today, and the $99 OnBeat Micro will be available be at major retailers such as Apple prior to Black Friday. The $199 OnBeat Venue LT to follow shortly after.
The OnBeat Micro features a pair of full-range drivers, fully digital signal path with digital signal processing, AC/DC operation, USB port and 3.5mm aux in.
The OnBeat Venbue LT features hidden Lightning dock connector behind the JBL logo, two full-range drivers and two tweeters, component video output, and Slipstream port to boost bass with low distortion, the company said.
For its part, Bang & Olufsen previously said it plans November availability of a Lightning connector module that replaces a 30-pin connector module in its BeoPlay A8 docking-speaker system. The module is free to existing A8 owners, who will be able to pick it up in B&O stores, and it will be included with the A8 in future shipments, a spokesperson said. The $1,149 A8 also features wireless Apple AirPlay.
