LAS VEGAS – iHome is riding the Bluetooth speaker trend with four new models that include company’s first IPX7-rated waterproof speaker and first portable Bluetooth speaker that splits into two to widen the stereo stage.
Two other models include a portable speaker with pulsating lights that change color and a small splash-proof speaker with built-in carabineer.
The splittable speaker is the $99 iBT11 Split with magnetic base that holds two battery-powered speakers, each with eight-hour rechargeable battery. Each speaker has its own Micro-USB port for charging, aux in, and integrated mic for hands-free speakerphone use. Together, the speakers measure 3.3 inches by 7.2 inches by 3 inches.
The waterproof IPX7-rated Bluetooth speaker is the $99-suggested ruggedized iBN6 with stereo drivers, NFC, USB charging and 4,400 mAh battery.
The speaker that delivers a pulsating light show is the tube-shaped $49 iBT74 Phaze, which lights up in multiple colors simultaneously and flashes in five patterns, including one to pulse with the music. It offers speakerphone functions, 3.5mm aux in, six-hour rechargeable battery and lanyard. It measures 5.4 inches in height and 3.1 inches in diameter.
The small splash-proof speaker is the $39 IPX5-rated iBT15 with speakerphone capability, aux in, built-in carabineer and rechargeable battery.
