HP Slims Down With Ultra-Thin EliteBooks

Palo Alto, Calif. — HP introduced this week its EliteBook Folio 1020 line of ultra-thin business-class notebook PCs.

The HP EliteBook 1020 and the HP EliteBook 1020 SpecialEdition (SE) measure 15.7mm thin, and use Intel’s new M-class processors.

The SE model uses an exclusive magnesium-lithium alloy and reusable carbon fiber to reduce the body weight to just 2.2 pounds.

“The HP EliteBook 1020 represents game-changing innovation in both materials and mechanical engineering to create the world’s thinnest and lightest business notebooks in a form factor that enables our customers to be more productive in more places,” said Alex Cho, HP commercial PCs VP and general manager. “Customers demand not only a stylish, thin and light notebook, but also a device that delivers advanced security and can withstand the rigorous demands that come with a highly mobile lifestyle — and the HP EliteBook1020 delivers this complete solution.”

The HP EliteBook 1020 and the ultra-lightweight HP EliteBook 1020 SE offer up to nine hours of battery power per charge, and both pass military-grade (MIL-STD 810G) testing for drops, shocks, and extreme temperature and humidity.

The notebooks offer near silent, fanless operation and include solid-state storage, HP Client Management Solutions and optional LAN Desk and Intel vPro technology to easily integrate with enterprise IT systems.

The HP EliteBook 1020 is available with an optional touchscreen while the HP EliteBook 1020 SE offers a Quad HD (QHD) 12.5-inch display and new  HP Premium keyboard.
Other features include a 720p webcam and front-firing speakers with HD Audio, DTS Studio Sound and HP Noise Reduction software.

HP also announced updates in the EliteBook line of notebooks and convertibles, which will feature the latest generation of Intel Core processors.

All new EliteBooks include the HP Noise Reduction software and are preloaded with HP Touchpoint Manager Cloud-based management.

For added security, the notebooks include HP ClientSecurity and HP BIOSphere to help keep data and devices safe.
