HP Intros Four Printers

HP has introduced four new printers, including three Deskjet models available at retail this month and a new Photosmart printer expected to be available in May. The additions are being targeted for the home or small office.

The printers in the Deskjet line all feature a HP Photosmart Essential button, which the company says makes it easy to share, save and print photos. They also come with the company’s Smart Web printing feature, said to help the user avoid accidental cutoff edges when printing from the Web. Other features common to the line include one-touch print cancel buttons and low-ink alerts.

Model D2460 prints up to 20 ppm in black and up to 14 ppm in color. It features an 80-sheet fold-up paper tray and has a suggested retail of $49.

Model D4260 is said to be able to print up to 30 ppm in black and up to 23 ppm in color. It has a 100-sheet fold-up paper tray and its front USB port is said to allow for the quick transfer of photos to a PC from digital cameras, card readers and flash drives. It has a suggested retail of $79.

At the same price, The Deskjet F4180 is an all-in-one device that prints, scans and copies. The product can scan at a 1,200 by 2,400 dpi resolution and 48-bit color. The scan cover can be removed for scanning thick materials and books. The product is said to print up to 20 ppm in black and up to 14 ppm in color.

Finally, the new Photosmart C4280 performs all the functions of an all-in-one printer but also allows the user to preview and print photos with a PC on its 1.5-inch color display. The Microsoft Vista-ready printer is said to have print speeds of up to 30 ppm in black and up to 23 ppm in color. The suggested retail is $99.
