Chicago – Maxxsonics is redesigning most of its Hifonics subwoofer lineup with the February shipment of five models that deliver greater power handling and deeper bass than their predecessors.
The dual-voice-coil, 4-ohm products, which will be displayed at the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas during CES, consist of the $169-suggested 12-inch Brutus, $139 12-inch Atlas, two Hercules models at $109 and $99, and the $79 Zeus. Maximum power handling ranges from 600 to 1,200 watts.
Mt. Olympus woofers remain in the line for competition-level enthusiasts.
The 12-inch Brutus features 2.5-inch voice coils and 1,200-watt maximum power handling.
The 12-inch Atlas features 2-inch voice coils and 800-watt maximum power handling. The 10-inch Hercules features 2-inch voice coils and 600-watt maximum power, and the 12-inch version of the Hercules features 2-inch voice coils but steps up maximum power handling to 700 watts. The entry-level 12-inch Zeus with 1.5-inch voice coils handles a maximum of 600 watts.
