Thinksound Adds ‘Green’ Headphones


Thinksound recently introduced its TS02 in-ear headphones, which feature wood housings and aluminum baffles.

The company said its goal is “to create incrediblesounding headphones with the smallest eco-footprint possible.” Models are said to be made out of real wood, and packaging reportedly comes from recycled materials, with “minimal plastic components.” PVCfree cables are used.

The TS02 headphones have 8mm drivers and come in two colors: Black Chocolate and Silver Cherry. Four different sizes of silicon tips are included, as is a carrying pouch. Frequency response is listed at 20Hz to 20kHz.

Suggested retail is $79.99. They’re currently available.

Aerial7, Kangol Team For Hats


Fashion headware supplier Kangol and headphone company Aerial7 have teamed up for a line of hats with built-in headphone speakers in the earflaps.

Aerial7 said it has developed “an ultra-slim superior quality Sound Disk” that is inserted into specially constructed Kangol jacquard earflaps, also incorporating a microphone which is compatible with mobile devices such as the iPhone and Blackberry.

The Kangol x Aerial7 collection is expected to be launched nationally in “fall/winter 2011.” The hats will retail for approximately $100.

iHome Intros Latest New Balance Models


In another audio/athletic partnership, iHome announced it has expanded its line of New Balance headphones.

The NB639 ear buds are designed to monitor such things as heart rate and caloric burn using an in-line heart-rate monitor and a pedometer. It charges and syncs via USB, so no batteries are required.

The ear buds have removable rubber ear hooks and a detachable cord system. Other features include a calorie-burning counter, BMI calculator, real-time voice-over feedback, chronograph, rechargeable battery and stats tracker. Statistical data can be exported to a computer for record and evaluation. They will be available this summer for a $99.99 suggested retail.

V-Moda Offers Custom Crossfades


V-Moda will offer customized versions of its flagship metal Crossfade LP headphones to consumers in honor of its fifth anniversary.

The Crossfade Customs personalization option, previously only available to select celebrities, the company said, offers customers six plate color options and four engraved designs with custom text on a choice of four base frames.

Initial designs include a numbered jersey, crown, skull snake and vinyl immortal angel logo. Colors available for the metal Crossfade LP plates are gold, black, gunmetal, pink, purple and red.

For a limited time, the Crossfade Custom Program will be included with every new Crossfade LP ($199.99 retail price) when purchased directly from V-Moda’s website.

Urbanears Intros 1st In-Ears


Urbanears introduced its first in-ear headphones, the Bagis.

The Bagis models feature 9mm drivers, a rubber housing and TPE cord, and each earpiece snaps together, allowing users to carry them around their necks when not in use. An in-line mic and remote are included.

Frequency response is listed at 20Hz to 20kHz, with impendence at 16 ohms. Eight colors are offered for $30.
