Las Vegas – Harman Kardon will go to International CES to expand its selection of AirPlay-enabled A/V receivers, launch its first AVR with embedded Wi-Fi, and bring out its first AVRs with 4K upscaling.

The brand’s two new AVRs are the $799-suggested 7.1-channel AVR 2700 and $999 7.2-channel AVR 3700, both of which feature Apple AirPlay, vTuner Internet radio to connect with thousands of Internet radio stations, and DLNA 1.5 certification to stream audio and video. Both also feature 4K upscaling from any video input. The $999 model adds embedded Wi-Fi.

Both AVRs can be controlled from free, downloadable HK remote-control apps for Apple and Android smartphones or tablets. That expands the brand’s selection of smartphone/tablet-controlled AVRs to three models.

Also with the launches, the brand expands its selection of AirPlay-equipped AVRs to three, having launched its first AirPlay-equipped model, the $499 AVR 1700, in mid 2012. The AVR 1700 was also the brand’s first AVR with iOS and Android remote-control apps, and it also features vTuner and DLNA 1.5 certification.

Both new models also feature two-zone audio, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, front-panel Made For iPod/iPhone/iPad Apple-certified USB port, music playback from USB drives, on-screen set-up menus, and Harman Kardon EzSet/EQ, which automatically sets system parameters and tailors sound to a given room’s acoustical characteristics. Both also feature a digital-power supply to reduce weight and material consumption.

The 7.1-channel AVR 2700 is rated at 7x100 watts and features eight 3D-compatible HDMI 1.4a inputs, including one on the front panel. The 7.1-channel AVR 3700 is rated at 7x125 watts and comes with a second remote control so users in a second room can control audio playback. The AVR 3700 also features high-definition graphical menu for setup and navigation, and it comes with eight 3D-compatible HDMI inputs, including one on the front panel.

Additional product details were unavailable.

The brand’s opening-price AVR, launched in mid 2012, is the AVR 700, with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master surround decoding, 5x75-watt amp, three HDMI 1.4a inputs, HDMI 1.4a output with audio return channel, and a front-panel USB to play MP3 files from USB sticks, drives and compatible Android phones.
