LAS VEGAS —
China-based audio supplier Edifier,
which launched its first U.S. audio products early last
year, is coming to International CES to expand its selection
of iPod/iPhone-docking speakers and add
more step-up price points.
Among the top-end products is the one-piece $399
Breathe, a three-way speaker system with coaxial
tweeter/midrange drivers and a 5-inch subwoofer, all
powered by a Class D amplifier. It features rigid aluminum
chassis, aluminum grille, worldwide 90 – 240V
power supply and aux input.
Another step-up model is the $299 Luna5 encore
with FM tuner, also a three-way five-driver system. It
packs 52 watts of amplification and a spherical speaker
enclosure with elliptical profile.
Another home iPod/iPhone speaker system is the Esiena
with FM RDS tuner, alarm clock functions, MP3/
WMA CD player, SD card reader, USB reader, touchsensitive
controls, high-intensity dot-matrix VFD display,
iPod/iPhone video output, and a remote that controls all
iPod and iPhone functions. It’s priced at $499.
Two portable AC/DC units are the Bric and On The
Go Encore.
The Bric features a retractable docking drawer and polished
white cabinet at $99.99. The On The Go Encore at
$179 has a foldaway dock, FM radio, aux input, two 3-inch
speaker drivers rated at six watts each, remote, protective
pouch, and built-in battery with 15 hours of battery life.
