DVD+RW Used For Missing Children

Philips Consumer Electronics recently presented The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) here with recordable DVD+RW equipment to help the center transfer its huge database of videos, images and information onto more accessible DVDs.

With the ability to archive records on DVD instead of VHS, NCMEC said it can better preserve valuable footage and free up needed storage space that was formerly consumed by mounds of videotapes.

The center, along with actress Josie Bissett and Philips, recommends all parents periodically videotape conversations with their children to give searchers a record of their mannerisms in the event they ever go missing.
