Dual Adopts Two-Way Dual Mirror Technology

Ten new head units launched by Dual Electronics include the brand’s first three multimedia models with two-way DualMirror technology.

The touchscreens of DualMirror heads mirror the screens of HDMI-connected smartphones. The touchscreens also control all Android-phone apps and a few iPhone apps.

The 10 new heads consist of five multimedia models, three CD-receivers, and two mech-less digital media receivers (DMRs).

At a suggested $349, the top-end double-DIN DV695MB features 6.2-inch capacitive LCD touchscreen, HDMI input with two-way DualMirror technology, 1080p playback via USB, and built-in Bluetooth with AVRCP and PBAP (phone book access protocol). It also features RGB custom colors, sixband graphic EQ, and three pairs of 4-volt RCA preamp outputs for front, center and subwoofer outputs, (F/R/S), and more.

The head’s two-way DualMirror enables the screen of an HDMI-connected Android or iOS phone to be mirrored on the head’s touchscreen, which controls an Android phone’s apps via Bluetooth HID. A $29.99 adapter cable can be used to make the HDMI connection, but consumers can also make a wireless HDMI connection via Wi-Fi if they purchase an optional $44.99 DMH25 Dual- Cast Wi-Fi dongle, which uses Wi-Fi Direct.

Two other multimedia heads with two-way DualMirror are the $219 6.2-inch DV635MB and $229 7-inch DV735MB.

The two other multimedia heads are the $139 6.2-inch DV526BT and7-inch $159 DV516BT.

In Dual’s 2015 line, one-way DualMirror was available, allowing for mirroring but no control of a connected smartphone.

Two-way models were also shown at last year’s CES but became available late last year as part of the 2016 lineup.
