Toshiba Ships Satellite With 17-Inch LCD

Irvine, Calif. — Toshiba introduced as part of its back-to-school lineup the Satellite P25-S607, its first Satellite notebook equipped with a 17-inch display. The P25's large display is mated with the Microsoft multimedia-centric Windows Media Center operating system. This gives the P25 the ability to record television programming via Media Center's PVR capability and to store and organize a wide variety of other digital media. The notebook is powered by a 2.8GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading technology. It features 512MB of RAM, a 60GB hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 graphics card, 802.11a/b, SD card slot, four USB 2.0 ports, a 1394 port and a remote control for handling the TV and movie-viewing features. The P25 uses a DVD multi-drive for playing DVDs and burning CDs. The unit carries a $2,799 suggested retail price and is now shipping.

Designed for the high-end gamer, this do-it-yourself replacement product features a horizontally mounted 120mm Cyclone cooling fan that is 50 percent larger than most cooling fans and works well with all Intel 1.3GHz and faster Pentium processors. It carries a $65 suggested retail price and started shipping last week.
