Casio’s latest digital camera, introduced at the PMA show here, has been designed to endure the slings and arrows of nature’s fortune.
The GV-10 is 1.23 megapixel camera with a 2x digital zoom and an exterior engineered for water-, dust- and shock-resistance. The camera ships in March and has a suggested retail price of $349.99.
The camera’s exterior is made of long-strand fiberglass that is enclosed with a high-elasticity “elastomer” for shock resistance. Internal circuitry is on a “floating mount” that uses shock-absorbing gel sheets to protect from external jolts.
The camera also can be immersed in a container of room temperature tap water to a depth of 1 meter for about 30 minutes. It can also withstand direct jets of water from any direction.
