Grom Adds Low-Price Android Kit


– Grom Audio unveiled its lowest price OEM-integration kit to connect Android phones to OEM sound systems.

The $99 GROM-AND2 Android car audio integration comes with vehicle-specific cables to connect the Grom module to a factory sound system, enabling users to use the factory radio controls or steering-wheel controls to control the selection of Androidphone- stores songs by song title, artist and album when a Grom app is loaded on the phone. The factory radio will also display song metadata on select factory radios.

This integration kit lacks the iPod connectivity and Bluetooth offered by a $129 kit that also connects to Android phones.

Alpine Launches New Nav Platform


– Alpine launched an audio/video/navigation (AVN) system whose new navigation platform adds such features as 3D views and auto zoom.

The INE-S920HD with 6.1-inch WVGA screen has begun shipping at an everyday $999. Another Alpine AVN incorporating the platform is the $1,499-everyday INEZ928HD, promoted as the aftermarket’s first AVN with 8-inch screen. It ships in July.

Dice Adds Siri Integration


Select $299 MediaBridge OEM-integration kits offered by Dice have added Apple Siri voice-control compatibility.

The kits, marketed by Audiovox for BMW, Volkswagen and Audi, enable drivers to use the factory steering-wheel voice button to control the apps on connected iOS devices as well as compose text and email messages.
