Canon U.S.A. refreshed its Bubble Jet printer and CanoScan scanner product lines with six new entries this month.
The three Bubble Jet entries are the i850 photo printer, the i550 Bubble Jet and i320 Bubble Jet, while the scanner line gained the 8000F, 5000F and LiDE.
The $199 i850, the flagship model of the new i series, features Canon’s 4,800dpi by 1,200dpi print resolution with non-photo prints speeds of 22 pages per minute in black and 14ppm for color and is optimized for printing digital images. The i550, suggested retail price $149, offers the same resolution with slightly slower print speeds, 18ppm for black and 11ppm in color. The entry-level i320, $79 suggested retail price, has a resolution of 2,400dpi by 1,200dpi and print speeds of 10ppm in black and 7ppm in color. Photo printing for all three models averages about 47 seconds for a 4-by-7-inch photo. All ship this month.
The scanner introduction include two models featuring USB 2.0 connectivity, the 8000F and 5000F, while the LiDE has onboard software that removes dust and scratches from photos during the scanning process. The 8000F and 5000F are 48-bit scanners that scan at 2,400dpi by 4,800dpi with suggested retail prices of $299 and $199. The LiDE has a $149 suggested retail price. The scanners ship in November.
