Canon further expanded its DVD camcorder family with the introduction of an entry-level model at $499.
The DC100 records to –R/-RW media and features a 25x optical zoom lens, high-resolution widescreen recording and 2.7-inch LCD. The lens features image stabilization and the company’s “smooth zoom control” which provides a choice of three fixed zoom speeds to ensure zooming at a constant speed and guard against zooming too quickly.
The DC100 also features a “level shot control” which shows horizontal/center indicator markers on the display panel for composing video that is properly aligned. The unit records audio in Dolby Digital Stereo and will ship at the end of April.
