BSH Home Appliances To Open Third Design Center

BSH Home Appliances, parent to the Bosch, Thermador and Gaggenau brand family, has picked Chicago as the locale of its third design center showroom.

The BSH Experience & Design Center is slated to open this winter at the city’s Merchandise Mart at LuxeHome facility at 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza.

The showroom, like the company’s current design centers in New York and headquarters town of Irvine, Calif., will serve as a “destination of inspiration” for architects, designers, builders and consumers, the manufacturer said.

The first-floor space will feature immersive kitchen vignettes that showcase BSH’s triumvirate of premium to super-premium appliance brands.

“BSH Home Appliances is the only manufacturer that can offer premium, luxury and elite luxury products to the builder, architect and designer communities under one roof,” said president/CEO Christofer von Nagel.

Nagel, former head of BSH’s Dutch operations, assumed the top U.S. job in April 2015 in a management shakeup that followed the acquisition by corporate parent Bosch of partner Siemen’s 50 percent interest in the global appliance operation.

Continued Nagel: “Chicago’s legacy in design and architecture makes the Merchandise Mart the ideal destination for our newest Experience & Design Center, which will highlight the finest in BSH innovation and its array of design solutions.”

The center represents the company’s first Midwest showroom foray. Noted Merchandise Mart landlady and Vornado VP Katherine Flaherty: “BSH Home Appliances is a superb addition to our collection of premier boutiques for home building and renovation, and we are delighted to welcome them. Their arrival will further establish LuxeHome as the preeminent destination for interior designers, residential architects, luxury custom home builders and consumers sourcing kitchen, bath and building products.”

BSH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Germany’s BSH Hausgeräte GmbH, maintains U.S. manufacturing facilities in New Bern, N.C., and La Follette, Tenn. It sells its appliance lines to distributors, independent appliance dealers, national and regional retailers, builders and large buying groups across North America.
