Bridgewater, N.J. – Brother International, introduced this week a new value-focused all-in-one ink jet printer targeting small business applications.
Brother’s MFC-J5620DW, which ships in October at a $199.99 estimated street price, is the first model from the company’s Business Smart Plus Series, and was designed to help entrepreneurs closely monitor printing costs.
The unit’s super high-yield replacement ink cartridges are said to lower the cost per page by offering a yield of up to 2,400 black pages and 1,200 color pages.
This is as much as four times the output of high-yield ink cartridges, the company pointed out.
The printer’s automatic duplex printing function can also help reduce printing budgets by lowering paper consumption and costs compared to single-sided printing.
Another feature of the J5620DW is its advanced paper handling capability. The printer offers an adjustable paper tray that holds up to 250 sheets of 11-by-17-inch paper, as well as an all-new multi-purpose tray that prints on specialty paper or envelopes without changing the paper in the main tray.
The multi-purpose tray can also hold up to 80 sheets of 8.5-by-11-inch paper or up to five sheets of 11-by-17 inch paper.
Other features include a 35-sheet automatic document feeder, and print speeds of up to 22ppm black and 20ppm color.
The printer will connect to mobile devices, cloud-based services, and Ethernet and wireless networks for convenient document printing in or away from the office.
The unit also features a 3.7-inch color touchscreen display with integrated keypad and swipe functionality, printing via AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, a free Brother iPrint&Scan app, Wi-Fi Direct and Cortado Workplace; connectivity featuring wireless 802.11b/g/n, Ethernet and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interfaces; Brother’s landscape print technology for a space-saving design, web connect enabling scanning to popular cloud services including Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, Evernote, Evernote BusinessSS, Onedrive, Onenote and more.
Brother said it will also shortly introduce the MFC-J5720DW ($249.99), which adds single-pass duplex scanning and copying, a second paper tray for a total capacity of 500 sheets, and an up to 50-sheet automatic document feeder.
