BOOX Introduces Card-Sized Picco ePaper Reader

A pocket-sized ePaper reader for short reading sessions

BOOX has introduced Picco, a 3.97-inch ePaper device that launches the company’s new Tiles product category. The card-sized device is designed for short reading sessions during everyday downtime and combines a monochrome ePaper display with touchscreen and physical controls.

Weighing 58 grams, Picco is roughly the size of a playing card. A dedicated magnetic case allows users to attach it to the back of a smartphone for carrying.

The device features a 235 PPI monochrome ePaper display with anti-aliasing for smoother text. Built-in front lighting provides adjustable brightness and color temperature for reading in different lighting conditions. A customizable physical Function Switch can be assigned to control the front lights or activate dark reading mode.

Picco supports a variety of document formats, with options to adjust fonts, margins and line spacing. Users can navigate using the touchscreen or physical page-turn buttons, while four-way screen rotation accommodates different grips.

The device includes a 16GB microSD card and supports cards up to 2TB. Files can be transferred through the BOOX Tiles app, a web browser or USB-C.

Beyond reading, Picco includes utility features such as Pomodoro, Todo and Countdown. Users can also customize the device with screensavers featuring photos, artwork or quotes. The minimalist operating system is designed without the visual clutter found on larger general-purpose devices.

Picco is now available for preorder through the BOOX Shop.
