Bewkes Scheduled To Give Keynote At SkyFORUM

Jeff Bewkes, Home Box Office chairman, will be the keynote speaker at the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association’s (SBCA) SkyFORUM financial satellite symposium on April 30.

The event, which is also presented by the SBCA’s SkyTRENDs partner, will run between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Starlight Roof at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

At the New York event, Bewkes is expected to reflect on the growth and changes that have taken place at HBO during his tenure.

Bewkes is responsible for the overall management of the world’s largest premium television company, and serves on the boards of Thirteen/WNET, the Comedy Central network, The Creative Coalition, the American Museum of the Moving Image and St. Vincent’s Services.

Meanwhile, the SBCA announced its first-ever West Coast version of the SkyFORUM financial event will take place Aug. 27, 2002, at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif. The event, called SkyFORUM WEST, traditionally has been presented in New York to be near the financial community.

The seminar will run from 2 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif.

It will be part of the International Satellite and Communications exchange Conference and Expo (ISCe), which runs from Aug. 27-29, and will bring together leading industry executives, market analysts and the media to discuss the future of the consumer satellite services industry.

In addition to the SkyFORUM West satellite financial symposium, the SBCA will be offering its “Satellite for Beginners” educational workshop (Satellite 101). The program also will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center, and will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Aug. 27. The program will feature a comprehensive history of the consumer satellite services industry including C-band and DBS hardware information, programming, legislative and regulatory issues, satellite market research, and information on the current marketplace.
