Beats Adds Bluetooth

Culver City, Calif. — Beats by Dr. Dre unveiled its latest headphones, the Solo2 Wireless on-ear Bluetooth model, its first new headphones under Apple ownership.

The Solo2 Wireless, which features the same design as the wired Solo2, has a wireless range of 30 feet, 12 hours of play time and on-ear controls. A cable is included for wired use should the battery die.

The headphones will be available this month in red, black, white and blue at a $299 suggested retail. The red version will be sold exclusively through Verizon Wireless through the end of the year.

Beats also added new colors for the wired Solo2: Stone Grey, Hunter Green, Imperial Violet, Blush Rose and Sapphire Blue. This model carries a $199 suggested retail.

Beats was acquired by Apple in July. It captured 28 percent of all headphone sales last year, according to The NPD Group.
