Averatec Jumps Back Into PC Market With 4 Models

Averatec has re-entered the computer market with a line of computers based upon the company’s laptop designs.

The company had taken a year-long hiatus from the computer market to reevaluate its position prior to releasing these new models.

The models are designed for use in non-traditional PC spaces and can even be wall mounted.

Each looks like a notebook computer with a display permanently mounted on its top and are considered portable enough to be moved around a home with little effort, the company said.

The latest entries come in four variants:

22-inch screen, 2GB, 320GB hard drive with TV tuner, $849;

  • 22-inch screen, 3GB, 320GB hard drive without TV tuner, $849;
  • 22-inch screen, 3GB, 500GB hard drive with TV tuner, $899; and
  • 18.4-inch screen, $549.

The 22-inch models all feature an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running Vista, a dual-layer DVD burner, Web cam, 3GB of DDR2 SDRAM and six USB ports.

The 18.4-inch model steps down to an Intel 1.6GHz Atom processor running Windows XP, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and no optical drive.
