AT&T To Add Dedicated Touchscreen To Home Automation Lineup

Atlanta — AT&T is adding a dedicated on-wall and table-mount touchscreen controller to supplement the tablet and smartphone apps available to monitor and control the company’s home-automation and security system.

AT&T’s announcement follows an announcement by home-automation startup Wink that it will add an in-wall control center to supplement app control of its wireless home-automation hub.

AT&T’s Digital Life home-automation and security products can be controlled from tablet and smartphones apps in the house or remotely. An on-wall keypad is also available to control security functions.

The new Wi-Fi-equipped Touchscreen Control will be introduced later this year, said Stephen Vincent, AT&T’s executive director for business development and Digital Life. Pricing was not disclosed. Once available, the ZTE-made device can be purchased a la carte by new and existing customers.

The touchscreen device lets users arm and disarm a home security system, manage devices and view video from the cameras in the house. “The Touchscreen Control, in conjunction with the regular keypad and the Digital Life application, gives our customers a full range of options to control their home,” he said.

It comes with kickstand and a wall-mount option for placement in any room.

Digital Life home-automation and monitoring products and service are sold through AT&T-owned stores in the 82 markets where the service is available. Products and service are also available online at ATT.com/DigitalLife or at (855) 288-2727.
