LAS VEGAS – Four indoor/outdoor Bluetooth speakers from Voxx brand Acoustic Research are priced from a suggested $99 to $219.
They start with the $99 Pasadena mono speaker, which can be paired with a second Pasadena to deliver stereo. Featuring styling popularized by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, it stands 9.5 inches in height and packs 10-watt output with less than 1 percent THD, 3-inch midrange, 2-inch tweeter, and 3-inch passive bass radiator. A built-in rechargeable battery offers up to 8 hours of playback, but it can also be AC-powered.
The design is intended for indoor use in an office, living room or kitchen, but its IPX water-resistant and UV-protected housing lends to outdoor use.
Also at $99, the indoor/outdoor Orleans features midrange driver, tweeter and rear passive woofer with 10-watt output. It’s part of AR’s Dynamic Audio Limited Series of indoor/outdoor wireless speakers. It also offers 3.5mm aux-in and runs on AC power or 8 AA batteries for up to 12 hours. The housing is IPX-rated for weather resistance.
Stepping up to $119, the weather-resistant Glendale Bluetooth speaker in the Premiere Series also features midrange, tweeter, passive bass radiator, 10-watt output, and ability to be used in pairs to deliver stereo. It runs on AC or 8 AA batteries.
At $219 and due in April, the AC-only Hatteras Bluetooth stereo speaker features a lighthouse-inspired design, stereo drivers, two 4-inch midranges, two 2-inch tweeters, and a 4-inch passive rear woofer. Output is rated at 40 watts with less than 1 percent THD. It also features 360-degree LED lighting in multiple modes: full area lightning, a soft glow, and party lighting mode that pulses to the beat of the music. Hatteras provides backyard lighting even when not being used as a speaker.
The Hatteras is UV-protected and IPX weather-resistant. A weather-resistant cover comes with it so it can be left outdoors for an entire season.
