Archos Carries A Small PC Stick

Paris — Archos became the latest company to unveil a Windows PC on a stick, joining a handful of other companies in the market.

The company plans August U.S. availability of the $99 PC Stick, which features Windows 10 and plugs into the HDMI port of a TV or monitor to display Windows programs. Users connect keyboards, mice and other accessories to the PC Stick via Bluetooth or USB port.

Preinstalled productivity software includes Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile. The device also includes the Cortana personal assistant.

The stick is compatible with all Windows, Android, and iOS keyboard applications and game controls.

Key specifications include Intel Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, Intel dual-core HD graphics, 32GB of flash storage, MicroSD card slot, Bluetooth Smart Ready 4.0, Wi-Fi, USB and MicroUSB ports. It measures 4.45 by 1.48 by 0.55 inches.

The stick automatically boots up when inserted into an HDMI port.

Windows-based stick computers are also available from Intel and MeeGo, and Lenovo recently unveiled its first product. Google offers a stick that runs its Chrome OS.

Archos also offers Android tablets and smartphones and started in the portable MP3 player market.
