One year after acquiring smart-home security vendor Ring, Amazon has announced plans to purchase Eero, makers of mesh Wi-Fi systems for the home.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Eero was one of the first vendors out of the box with mesh products for consumers. The multi-node systems are easy to set up and blanket the home with uniform Wi-Fi coverage that eliminates dead spots.

“We are incredibly impressed with the Eero team and how quickly they invented a Wi-Fi solution that makes connected devices just work,” said Dave Limp, senior VP of Amazon Devices and Services. “We have a shared vision that the smart-home experience can get even easier, and we’re committed to continue innovating on behalf of customers.”
Eero is currently available on Amazon, where it has earned a customer rating of 4.6 out of a possible five stars, the e-tailer said.
The acquisition, along with those of Ring and Blink before that, will serve as an adjunct to Amazon’s Alexa-enabled smart-device assortment and help consolidate the company’s grip on the connected home.
