Amazon Plotting New Boston Hub For Voice Control, Robotics

Boston remains a finalist in the HQ2 search

Amazon is growing in Beantown.

The company announced it will expand its Boston Tech Hub and add another 2,000 technology jobs that focus on machine learning, voice control, Cloud computing, and robotics engineering.

The Tech Hub will move into a new 430,000-square-foot location, with plans to open in 2021.

Boston is one of the finalists in HQ2, Amazon’s much-publicized quest for a home for its second headquarters.

Amazon’s teams based in the Boston metro area primarily focus on Alexa, Amazon Web Services and Audible, said the company. Its first corporate office in the area opened in Cambridge, Mass., in 2013.
