YouTube Says T-Mobile Is Throttling Its Video Traffic

You Tube is complaining that T-Mobile’s Binge On program reduces the resolution of its videos even though YouTube is not participating in Binge On. Binge On lets users stream about two dozen video services without the data counting against a user’s LTE data cap. T-Mobile says users can switch off Binge On to restore full resolution at anytime.

“New T-Mobile program delivers video in lower quality in exchange for users waiving some fees. YouTube said T-Mobile US Inc. is interfering with its video traffic, raising a new issue as federal regulators examine the wireless carrier’s streaming-video strategy.”
