T-Mobile Will Operate 13,000 Stores By Year’s End

Senior T-Mobile execs said the Magenta carrier will open 400 more T-Mobile stores, for a total of 4,000, and will expand its prepaid MetroPCS chain to 9,000 locations, all by year’s end. The real estate will include new geographies now reached by T-Mo’s burgeoning 700 MHz spectrum buildout (band 12 extended-range LTE), and will also backfill existing markets. The company also hopes to grab additional market share and new carrier converts this fall with the rollout of iPhone 7.

“T-Mobile US plans to open another 400 new retail stores this year, according to a top company executive, growing the carrier’s total nationwide retail footprint from 3,600 to 4,000 stores by the end of 2016. And that effort will dovetail with another major push by T-Mobile: Using the expected launch of Apple’s next iPhone to steal market share from the likes of AT&T and Verizon.”
