RadioShack Closes Last Hometown Store; Creditors Sue Sprint

RadioShack closed its last remaining store in its headquarters town of Fort Worth, Texas over the holiday weekend, as the once 7,000-plus-showroom chain reduces its real estate to 70 company-owned locations. The closure comes as RadioShack’s creditors filed suit against former partner Sprint, which they accuse of having used confidential customer information gleaned from the alliance to open competing carrier stores, which they say contributed to the chain’s second bankruptcy in two years.

“Even as the number of remaining RadioShacks dwindled to below 100, the once-popular retailer held off on closing the one store left in its hometown of Fort Worth, TX. But when that lone holdout shutters this weekend, it will leave a huge swath of Texas without a RadioShack for the first time in decades.”
