Yamaha Unveils AirPlay-Ready HTiB Systems

Buena Park, Calif. –

Yamaha

of America introduced Monday five HTiB systems, including three models with AirPlay
iOS device connectivity.

The models include the YHT-897BL ($850 suggested retail),
YHT-797BL ($800), YHT-597BL ($650), which will ship in May, and the YHT-497BL
($480) and YHT-397BL ($450), which are available this month.

All five models include front-panel USB ports for connection to
smartphones, thumb drives and other devices, five speakers and a 100-watt
subwoofer.

The YHT-897BL, YHT-797BL and YHT-597BL include a network receiver
with Airplay and free control app for iOS/Android/Kindle Fire smartphones and
tablets, as well as direct connectivity to iPads and the Yamaha’s proprietary Cinema
DSP 3D surround sound.

AirPlay compatibility enables music to be streamed wirelessly
from the latest versions of iTunes stored on Macs, PCs and compatible Apple
iPad/iPhone/iPod touch devices. These systems also deliver music content from
Internet radio and DLNA-certified devices.

A free Yamaha A/V controller app for iOS (iPad/iPhone) and
Android devices provides remote control operation of the receivers and access
to music stored on smart phones and tablets.

Yamaha also developed for Kindle Fire users a native app that is
now available from the Amazon Appstore.

The App provides a portrait or landscape mode interface,
depending on the device orientation.

Each of the systems are future proof, offering 4K video passthrough
from yet-to-be-introduced source components that will deliver content with four
times the resolution of 1080p. They also provide 3D video pass-through with
audio return channel (ARC).

Multi-language onscreen display support is provided with overlays
onto HD and 3D video signals to depict system control and setup prompts.

Data, such as song titles, from connected iPads, iPhones, iPods
or USB drives is shown on the receivers’ onscreen displays.

Connected devices can also charge automatically for later use on
the go.

All of the new systems offer a wide range of HD Audio format
decoding formats, including Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital
Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio. Cinema DSP 3D (YHT-897BL, YHT-797BL and
YHT-597BL) and Cinema DSP (YHT-497BL and YHT-397BL), with 17 DSP programs,
enables users to adjust the listening experience to their preferences.

Silent Cinema produces large-scale surround sound through
ordinary headphones.

Yamaha also integrates its improved YPAO system calibration into the
HTiB systems for more accurate room measurements by confirming the subwoofer is
fully responding before making audio adjustments. Four Scene Mode buttons
automatically power on the appropriate components and make system adjustments
for specific entertainment options.

Eco mode reduces the system’s power consumption by 20 percent,
with extremely low power consumption in standby mode and Auto Power Down that
can be set for two, four, eight or 12 hours.

All systems bundle five speakers, with 2-way high-power-capable drivers,
and 100-watt subwoofers.

Subwoofers for the YHT-497BL system and up include Advanced YST for
the highest-level sound pressure and performance.

Other features in the assortment include the following:

  • The YHT-497BL front, center and rear speakers
    feature a glossy black finish.

  • The YHT-797BL offers five trapezoidal shaped
    equal voice matched speakers.

  • The YHT-897BL features two high-volume tower
front-channel speakers, a compact center-channel speaker, and two bookshelf
    rear speakers.
