Yamaha Adds Its 1st BD-Integrated HTiB

BUENA PARK, CALIF. –

Yamaha has launched its
first-ever HTiB system with integrated Blu-ray player.

The $699-suggested BDX-610 features 5.1 speaker
system and an A/V receiver integrated with a 3D Bluray
player. The system’s Blu-ray/receiver is also available
separately at a suggested $549 for dealers who
want to add on their own speaker package and other
components.

In the 2000s, the company offered some HTiBs
with DVD/receivers and some with included DVD
player and receiver, but the company hasn’t packaged
HTiBs with DVD players in years.

The Blu-ray-equipped 500-watt BDX-610, which is
shipping, is a networked model that accesses the Internet
to stream BD-Live, Netflix and YouTube content.
It also features front-panel iPod/iPhone-certified USB
port to play content stored on iPhones, iPods, iPads,
flash drives and other portable devices. The USB port
captures iPod/iPhone audio as digital PCM.

Other features include FM tuner, auto lip sync, rearpanel
USB, HDMI output with audio return channel,
and DLNA 1.5 certification to stream music stored on a networked PC or other DLNA devices. It decodes Dolby
TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and
DTS-HD High Resolution Audio. It lacks HDMI input and
other video inputs but features analog and digital audio
inputs, the company’s website shows.

When connected to a CEC-compatible TV via HDMI,
the system will turn on and off simultaneously with the TV,
and the TV’s remote can be used to control the system’s
volume, the company said.

The main component’s amplifier power is rated at 5×80
watts at 1kHz with 10 percent THD, and the powered sub
with 6.5-inch woofer is rated at 100 watts at 100Hz with
10 percent THD.
