XM + Napster Beta Version Ready

Los Angeles — Napster and XM Satellite Radio announced today that a beta version of their upcoming XM + Napster music service is now available to XM subscribers online.

The service provides a single interface for downloading music heard on XM and allows users to create playlists from various sources of music including Napster’s catalog. The service is expected to be commercially available in the first quarter along with the first XM/MP3 combination portable headset players from Samsung and Dell.

XM also announced today it signed Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter as a promotional spokesman for XM and its Major Leagues Baseball (MLB) programming.

Jeter will be featured in television, print and online media as well as in retail promotions. He also will make regular guest appearances on XM’s MLB program channels, said XM.
