Los Angeles -
introduced at the E3 Expo here Monday a new voice-activated search system that will help Xbox 360 users instantly search for a favorite movie or TV show by speaking out the title's name.
They system uses Microsoft's Bing search engine and the Kinect software to glean movie listings from the Netflix, Hulu Plus and ESPN online video services. It will also find games, music and videos from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
"This is an incredible time of growth and innovation for our business leveraging technologies that see us, hear us and connect us all together," stated Don Mattrick, Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business president. "This year by bringing together the power of Kinect for Xbox 360 and the intelligence of Bing, we are transforming how people enjoy entertainment."
Microsoft said it will be using the voice-command system as it expands live entertainment services available to the Xbox 360 in the coming year, to include news, sports and favorite local channels.
Also this year, Microsoft is teaming up with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to bring the mixed martial arts programming to Xbox Live.
Content will feature live matches, classic fights, interviews and exclusive behind-the-scenes looks into the lives of the UFC fighters.
Microsoft said it will also be adding YouTube to Xbox 360 and the new voice-activated search system.
