Weedfald Joins Ziff Davis As President

New York — Former Circuit City and Samsung executive Peter Weedfald has been named president of Ziff Davis Media.

Weedfald was most recently senior VP/chief marketing officer with Circuit City. Prior to that he was senior VP/chief marketing officer of Samsung Electronics North America where Weedfald was responsible for all sales, marketing, product management and advertising and instrumental in the development of its Four Seasons of Hope and Hope For Education charitable programs.

Weedfald is returning to his publishing roots. He spent nine years with Ziff Davis Media in the 1980s, holding various sales and executive positions at PC Magazine and other titles, before moving on to IDG’s Computerworld and getting his first taste of PC industry as an executive with ViewSonic.

A board member of the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF), which is focused on helping to find a cure for cystic fibrosis, Weedfald was the 2005 recipient of the IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) Communicator of the Year Leadership Award, a winner of the 2005 BRAG (Black Retail Action Group) Business Achievement Award and the recipient of the 2006 Guardian Angels Archangel Lifetime Leadership Award. He was also recognized as one of the “Sweet 16” most-influential people in video gaming by The Daily Stuff in 2005 and was a 2007 Frost & Sullivan Sales and Marketing Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
