Lake Forest, Calif. — Western Digital (WD) is now shipping the WD Scorpio 320GB 2.5-inch SATA hard drives, model WD3200BEVS, for notebook computers and portable storage drives.
The drive has a 3Gbps transfer rate and is “destined for use in OEM notebook platforms,” said the company.
According to a release, the drive offers proprietary elements including
· WhisperDrive technology, which is said to make the drive “one of the quietest 5,400 rpm, 2.5-inch drives available;”
· ShockGuard for shock tolerance; and
· IntelliSeek which calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration.
