Warner, Sony Reveal New 3D Blu-ray Discs

Los Angeles – Warner Home Video and Sony Pictures Home
Entertainment each disclosed plans Thursday for forthcoming retail availability
of new 3D Blu-ray Disc titles.

Warner said it will introduce six 3D Blu-ray Disc titles for open
distribution in retail stores starting Nov. 16, according to a report in Home
Media Magazine. All six will carry suggested retails of $44.95 each.

Earlier in the day, Sony said it would release “Open Season” on
the same day to retail stores in the 3D Blu-ray format.

The five of the six Warner titles will come from the studio’s
catalog of previously released home videos and include “Clash of the Titans
(2010),” “The Polar Express,” “IMAX Deep Sea 3D,” “IMAX Under the Sea 3D” and
“IMAX Space Station 3D.”

The sixth film, “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore,”
will stand as the only day-and-date release, joining Disney’s “A Christmas
Carol” as the first new home video releases available through retail in the
format.

Image Entertainment had previously announced plans to release three
IMAX films in 3D Blu-ray — “IMAX: Grand Canyon Adventure – River at
Risk,”  “IMAX: Wild Ocean” and “Dinosaurs
Alive!” All are slated for retail release on Nov. 2.
