Walmart Names New E-tail Chief

San Bruno, Calif. - Walmart has tapped former CBS Interactive president and CNET CEO Neil Ashe as head of its global e-commerce business, effective today.

In his new role as president/CEO, he succeeds vice chairman and former Walmart U.S. chief Eduardo Castro-Wright, who announced his pending retirement in September.

At CBS Ashe led all online properties including,, and, and helped develop new ways to distribute the company's programming.

"E-commerce is a great opportunity for us and we have a long-term vision to win," said Mike Duke, Walmart's president/CEO. "We are on track to create the next generation of e-commerce, combining the latest in online innovations with physical stores to give our customers a unique and seamless shopping experience ...
